"It is the deep state of mind of a cult place that creates its legend. The intense blue smoke of cigarettes, cigars, weed... whatever. We are always looking for multiple paradises: laughter, desires, pleasures, again and again," states perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour.

This same spirit was present during Duchaufour and Gerstner's recent trip to the Dominican Republic.

"It was an explosion of lively and chic people from Mexico, France, Rio, New York; diverse cultures, conversations, ideas, and opinions. We traveled together from a tropical forest to the coast, but it wasn't until we were in a cigar factory that I looked at Bertrand and asked him: 'Can you capture all this in a bottle?'" states Gerstner.

Café Tabac opens with sparkling notes of bergamot, apple, and tamarind, but the fragrance is a tribute to tobacco in its various forms. Dried leaves, damp flowers, and a fire-lit cigar are represented through Clary Sage and Davana, Mango, Dried Fig, Date, and a raw smokiness of Tobacco Absolute, Tar, Cade, and Cedarwood.

An amber accord of Cistus and Labdanum secretions and sugars, Ambergris, Oakmoss, Vanilla, Cocoa accord, and Peru Balsam in the heart, gives way to a dark, rich, and resinous base.

Burnt Sugar, fresh Cloves, and Cardamom are infused with vapors that keep the blend multi-faceted.
