Aedes de Venustas - Signature

To create a modern and decadent perfume, the perfumer drew inspiration from the interiors of the original boutique, Aedes Perfumery, and its burgundy and eggplant colors like the shades of precious jewels, its sparkling and iridescent finishes like a peacock's feathers, textures of velvet and silk like an angel's skin, taffeta and brocades.

The construction is baroque yet futuristic; a round, luxurious, and voluptuous work. Duchaufour describes the perfume as "a play on supports," an improbable architecture in which ephemeral green rhubarb grows over time, while a dark and resinous incense and chypre accord pulls away, becoming more abstract. This interplay between freshness and depth is the axis around which the fragrance rotates, just as it does for the wearer, exuding its memorable sillage.

In addition to rhubarb and incense, the notes include tomato leaf, red currant, honeysuckle, vetiver, and hazelnut. Duchaufour personally sources many of the raw materials, traveling the world to work with farmers on sustainable and fair-trade practices. For Signature, the vetiver from Madagascar was sourced directly by him.
